Adding a Blog Post in Divi Theme
- Login to Your WordPress Dashboard: Navigate to your website’s backend by adding “/wp-admin” to your domain name (e.g., www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin) and enter your credentials to log in.
- Access the Blog Posts Section: Once logged in, locate the “Posts” option on the left-hand sidebar and click on it. This will open the Blog Posts section where you can manage all your blog posts.
- Click on “Add New”: To create a new blog post, click on the “Add New” button at the top of the screen.
- Enter Your Blog Post Content: You will be directed to the post editor where you can add your blog post content. You will automatically be in the Classic editor, which provides a straightforward editing experience similar to traditional word processors. Write your post title in the designated field and then add your text, images, and any other media content using the editor.
- Set a Featured Image: To set a featured image, look for the “Featured Image” panel on the right-hand side of the screen. Click on “Set featured image” and upload an image from your computer. Ensure the image dimensions are consistent for a visually appealing layout. Divi recommends an aspect ratio of 1200px by 675px for best results. When selecting images, consider the aspect ratio (width vs. height) to maintain a balanced appearance. Wide aspect ratios are often preferred for blog post featured images as they provide more horizontal space for content.
- Add Categories and Tags: Below the post editor, you’ll find options to add categories and tags to your blog post. Categories help organize your content, while tags provide additional context. Select relevant categories and add descriptive tags to improve the discoverability of your post.
- Preview and Publish: Before publishing your post, it’s a good idea to preview how it will look on your website. Click on the “Preview” button to see a preview of your post in a new tab. Once you’re satisfied with how it looks, click on the “Publish” button to make your post live on your website.
- Check Your Blog Post: After publishing, visit your website to ensure your new blog post appears correctly. Check the formatting, featured image display, and overall layout to ensure everything looks as intended.
Using Consistent Featured Image Sizes
If your website already has existing blog posts with consistently sized featured images that differ from the recommended 1200px by 675px aspect ratio, it’s advisable to maintain consistency across your posts. Consistent image sizes contribute to a cohesive visual presentation and improve the overall aesthetics of your blog.
When adding a new blog post, consider using the same dimensions as the existing featured images to ensure a uniform look throughout your website. This approach helps maintain visual harmony and creates a seamless browsing experience for your visitors.
To determine the appropriate dimensions for your featured images, review the dimensions of the existing images on your website. If they have a different aspect ratio or size, you may choose to adhere to the existing dimensions to maintain consistency.
By using consistent featured image sizes, you enhance the professionalism and readability of your blog, making it more visually appealing to your audience.
